Cornell Managed Programs

Cornell managed, or “Cornell-In” programs, are advanced language and specialized programs that are managed (in part) by Cornell Abroad and were developed with Cornell students in mind.  Below is our current list of these truly unique programs, with links to more detailed information.

Specialized programs in English

Cornell in East Asia

Students have specially-tailored opportunities to work and learn together in leading private and public institutions across East Asia, drawing on the prestigious local networks of Keio (Japan), Yonsei (Korea) and Hong Kong Universities.  The program will culminate with a summer internship in Hong Kong.  Language of instruction is English, and the program is open to all disciplines. (Students in A&S must have two semesters of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, or the equivalent).

Cornell in India

This unique semester abroad experience brings students, faculty, community members, and professionals to learn and research together at the Nilgiris Field Learning Center in Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu.  In this collaborative initiative, all participants develop and hone academic and research skills with a view toward developing practical solutions for complex problems facing communities in the Nilgiri Biosphere.  Language of instruction is English, and the program is open to all disciplines.

Cornell in Nepal

A pioneering joint venture between Cornell and Tribhuvan National University of Nepal initiated in 1993.  The highlight of the program is the independent research project for which students may choose topics ranging from cultural to environmental studies, public health, or international agriculture. Language of instruction is English, and the program is open to all disciplines.

Cornell in Patagonia

A unique opportunity to engage in an intensive academic and scientific research coursework while integrating into Patagonian culture. The program offers a set of courses with Cornell course codes that introduce the unique geology and the living and extinct biodiversity of Patagonia. The courses are taught by experienced professors and researchers providing up-to-date information with an important component of laboratory and fieldwork activities. The courses take place in the educational facilities of a constantly growing, modern, museum, which houses some of the most important fossil specimens from Patagonia.

French

Cornell in Paris (EDUCO)

Offers a full-immersion program in the heart of French culture and society.  Students take courses in French at the EDUCO Center and from up to three partner universities: Paris I, Paris IV, and Paris VII.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced French skills at time of participation.

Cornell in Paris (Sciences Po Consortium)

Partnered with l’Institut de Sciences Politiques, better known as “Sciences Po,” this is an elite program for the study of politics, international relations, economics, and related subjects.  Sciences Po has a dynamic teaching faculty, high achieving students, and a special “methodologie” for their classes that make for an academically enriching experience.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced French skills at time of participation.

German

Cornell in Berlin

Offers an incredible opportunity to master German language skills by engaging in intensive academic coursework while integrating into German culture.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced German skills at time of participation.

Italian

Cornell in Bologna

With this program you will find yourself integrating into Italian culture in this elegant, ancient city.  The program offers its students the option of combining University of Bologna courses with courses taught by the center.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Italian skills at time of participation.

Japanese

Cornell in Kyoto

This program helps students strengthen their Japanese language and Japanese studies by providing intensive language training, disciplinary coursework, and participation in clubs, local organizations, or mentored projects.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Japanese skills at time of participation.

Spanish

Argentina

Cornell in Buenos Aires

Offers a full-immersion program in the capital of Argentina.  Students are immersed in the local university environment and take most of their courses at one or more partner universities.  This program is designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Spanish skills at time of participation.

Chile

Cornell in Santiago

Offers a full-immersion program in the capital of Chile.  Students are immersed in the local university environment and take most of their courses at one or more partner universities.  This program is designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Spanish skills at time of participation.

Cuba

Cornell in Cuba (CASA)

Provides students with an unparalleled opportunity to examine firsthand the key political, social, economic, and cultural issues affecting this island nation and its Caribbean and Latin American neighbors.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Spanish skills at time of participation.

Cornell in Cuba (Research Program)

Partnered with Academic Programs International (API), students affiliate with a research lab at the University of Havana: the Research Group in Bioacoustics and Neuroethology, or the Center for Protein Studies.  Available to students who have completed SPAN 1230 or above.

Spain

Cornell in Barcelona         

Offers a full-immersion program in one of the leading cities of the world.  Students are immersed in the local university environment and take most of their courses at one or more partner universities.  This program is designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Spanish and/or Catalan skills at time of participation.

Cornell in Granada

There are 3 different tracks to apply to: Intensive Spanish Language; Spanish Language and Culture; or Translation and Intepretation

Cornell in Seville

A unique multi-dimensional program designed to integrate linguistic, social, cultural, historical and artistic study with experiential learning and direct university enrollment.  Seville is an ideal place to explore Spain’s dynamic present and fascinating past.  Designed for students in all disciplines who have (or will have) advanced Spanish skills at time of participation.
